Job Title:                        Senior Tester

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality testing solutions with a strong focus on automation, frontend quality, AI-enabled testing practices, and continuous improvement.

Frontend Testing & Quality Assurance

- Design, develop, and execute test strategies for modern web applications

- Validate functionality, usability, accessibility, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility

- Collaborate with developers and UX teams to ensure quality requirements are incorporated early in the development lifecycle

- Perform exploratory, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing

- Validate frontend behaviour across desktop and mobile platforms

- Identify, document, and track software defects through to resolution

Test Automation & Playwright Development

- Design and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright

- Develop reliable end-to-end automated test suites for web applications

- Implement automated regression testing within CI/CD pipelines

- Create reusable automation components, libraries, and testing utilities

- Establish automation standards, best practices, and coding guidelines

- Improve test coverage while reducing execution time and maintenance overhead

AI-Driven Quality Engineering

- Leverage AI tools to improve test case generation, maintenance, and execution

- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate automation implementation

- Apply AI-powered techniques for defect analysis, root cause investigation, and test optimisation

- Evaluate emerging AI testing technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate

- Drive initiatives that improve productivity and software quality through responsible AI usage

- Champion modern quality engineering approaches that integrate automation and AI capabilities

CI/CD, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines

- Monitor test execution results and quality metrics

- Produce meaningful test reports and quality dashboards

- Support release validation and production readiness activities

- Participate in sprint planning, refinement, reviews, and retrospectives

- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across delivery teams

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

The successful candidate will have:

- 5+ years of software testing and quality assurance experience

- 3+ years of test automation experience using Playwright

- Strong frontend testing experience across modern web applications

- Experience testing Angular, React, Vue.js, or similar frontend frameworks

- Strong knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript

- Practical experience implementing end-to-end automation frameworks

- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines

- Working knowledge of Git based source control systems

- Strong understanding of API testing principles and tools

- Experience with browser developer tools and frontend debugging

- Demonstrated experience using AI tools to improve testing productivity and quality outcomes

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins

- Experience in consulting or client-facing environments

- Knowledge of performance testing and non-functional testing principles

- Experience with accessibility testing standards and WCAG compliance

- Experience with visual regression testing solutions

- Understanding of test architecture and quality engineering best practices

- Exposure to cloud native applications and microservices architectures

- Relevant testing certifications, such as ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Matric (Grade 12) certificate

- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience

- Minimum 5 years of professional software testing experience

- Minimum 3 years of Playwright automation experience

- South African citizenship or valid work permit
