Location: Guayaquil - Ecuador

Position Summary

The Junior Database Administrator will be responsible for providing technical support for the organization’s Microsoft SQL Server environments, working in direct coordination with the DBA Lead. This role actively participates in incident management, development-related database requests, and operational activities across production and non-production environments, ensuring database availability, stability, and performance.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

· Manage and resolve SQL Server-related tickets from development, analytics, and infrastructure teams.
· Perform database restorations in production and non-production environments as required.
· Analyze and optimize T-SQL queries to improve application performance.
· Identify and troubleshoot blocking, deadlocks, and performance-related issues.
· Monitor alerts, jobs, and critical events on SQL Server instances.
· Support user, role, and permission management.
· Execute controlled database changes (creation and modification of objects under approved change processes).
· Assist in validating existing high availability configurations (Always On, replication, etc.).
· Participate in disaster recovery testing and database recovery validations.
· Document technical solutions and recurring incidents.
· Support patching, upgrades, and migration activities under the coordination of the DBA Lead.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
· 2–3 years of experience supporting or administering Microsoft SQL Server databases.
· Advanced proficiency in T-SQL (complex queries, joins, subqueries, stored procedures, functions, and performance troubleshooting).
· Experience handling technical tickets and supporting development teams.
· Experience performing database restorations.
· Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery concepts.
· Ability to work in production environments under change management controls.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desired Skills

· Experience with performance monitoring and diagnostics (DMVs, execution plans).
· Knowledge of Always On Availability Groups.
· Basic knowledge of database security and encryption (TDE, Always Encrypted is a plus).
· Experience developing or supporting ETL processes is a plus.
· Basic exposure to Azure SQL or hybrid cloud environments is desirable.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment & Reporting

The Junior Database Administrator will report directly to the DBA Lead and collaborate closely with development, analytics, and infrastructure teams to ensure efficient database platform support.
