Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Direct daily plant operations to achieve production, reliability, and performance objectives.
- Monitor plant performance, analyze operating trends, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and availability.
- Make timely and effective decisions during routine and non-routine operating conditions.
- Ensure accurate and complete operational records, reporting, and documentation are maintained.
- Support budgetary objectives through effective management of plant resources and operational costs.
Maintenance Management
- Develop, coordinate, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Plan and manage maintenance outages to maximize plant availability and reliability.
- Develop detailed outage schedules, including scope development, manpower requirements, resource allocation, cost estimates, and task assignments.
- Coordinate with internal teams and contractors to ensure safe and successful execution of maintenance activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured change management processes and maintenance best practices.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop operations and maintenance personnel to build a highly skilled, engaged, and accountable workforce.
- Establish performance expectations and provide coaching, training, and ongoing feedback.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented, multi-disciplinary work environment.
- Ensure staffing levels, qualifications, and training requirements support operational needs.
- Promote employee development and succession planning initiatives.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure quality, safety, schedule, and budget expectations are met.
- Collaborate with plant leadership and corporate stakeholders to achieve operational and strategic objectives.
Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure all work is performed in a safe, professional, and environmentally responsible manner.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote adherence to plant procedures, safe work practices, and industry best practices.
- Ensure proper use of three-part communication and operational protocols throughout the facility.
- Lead incident investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field; OR
- Technical degree/diploma or high school diploma/GED with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant power generation or industrial operations experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in power generation, industrial operations, or a related plant environment.
- Strong knowledge of power plant operations, maintenance practices, and reliability principles.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and drive operational results.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and computerized maintenance/operations systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and schedules.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in industrial environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and weather conditions.
- Requires standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, bending, twisting, and accessing plant equipment for inspection and operational activities.
- May be required to work extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and respond to plant emergencies as needed.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
- Regular exposure to rotating, energized, and heavy industrial equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed to perform job responsibilities.
