About the Role

Our team of seven publishers   is responsible for   a portfolio of over 50 English-language scientific journals in the fields of genetics, biophysics,   bioengineering   and biotechnology. The Publishing Assistant provides a vital role in supporting the internal publishing team by handling a variety of non-strategic matters.

As well as providing core support to the in-house team, the role involves building excellent working relationships with external Editors as well as with other internal teams such as production, journal editorial   office   and other supporting teams .

The successful candidate must be flexible, able to prioritize,   organize   and coordinate work assignments, and able to   determine   the most efficient way to   accomplish   each task.

Role Responsibilities:

- Handle non-strategic matters to   maintain   scholarly journals: prepare new agreements, update internal systems, request payments, and   maintain   other journal records.

- Prepare materials for team reports, conferences, and board meetings, including assistance with PowerPoint presentations.   Request annual journal reports and   monitor   schedule .

- Handle general enquiries from within Springer and from external partners, esp. external   editors   and authors

- Develop strong working relationships with colleagues across all departments to coordinate ongoing production, editorial office, marketing, conferences, and other internal department deadlines.

- Respond to routine enquiries from customer services

- Working with internal databases and other software to track projects across a portfolio of journals

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

- Ability to work autonomously and responsibly

- Very strong   computer skills   required , particularly in MS 365 applications, such as Word, Excel,   PowerPoint   and Teams

- Ability and interest to learn company-specific systems and workflows

- Laser focused attention to detail;   exhibiting   strong organizational and analytical skills are   a must

- Excellent written and oral communication skills

- Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

Desirable

- Degree in biological or clinical science (or similar)
