JOB SUMMARY

The Resident Assistant is responsible for monitoring the Hope Haven campus to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents served. Serves as a Liaison for outside groups entering the facility to provide resources to clients. Communicate with counselors about the clients rules/policy compliance. Encourages the client's participation in agency activities. Strict emphasis on maintaining the environment, including room checks and cleaning common areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintain continuous observation of clients to include making rounds of entire campus at a minimum of one per hour.

- Encourages clients participation in agency activities.

- Serves as a liaison for outside groups coming into the facility to hold meetings. (AA/NA).

- Strict emphasis on maintenance of environment to include room checks, common area cleanliness, etc.

- Professional and courteous telephone etiquette and communications with clients, co-workers, and visitors

- Require regular and reliable attendance.

- Assist in all phases of operation and implementation of program rules and policies.

- Communicate consistently with counselors about resident concerns, issues, or needs.

- Participate in administrative activities as a member of the Hope Haven, Inc. Clinical Team

- Front desk coverage, responding to phone calls and monitoring the sign out forms.

- Provide residents with NA/AA schedules and meeting locations.

- Complete Incident reports as required.

- Assist with planning transportation of residents to self-help group meetings as needed.

- Ability to perform duties physically and mentally without harm to self or others.

- Collaborate in the establishment of a positive work environment:

- Demonstrate a willingness to assist others with tasks and provide support to other program staff with the goal of developing positive working relationships.

- Model mature interpersonal conflict resolution and team building skills.

- Ability and willingness to be on duty in the residence during the hours designated by the Resident Assistant Coordinator.

- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

- High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year related experience. Associate or bachelors degree in the Human Services field with a minimum of one (1) year related experience preferred.

- Emotional stability, maturity, warmth, openness, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse, indigent population.

- Must have a valid NC driver's license and be insurable by Hope Havens carrier.

- Ability and willingness to provide coverage in the facility twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

- Must have knowledge of confidentiality laws so that client confidentiality is always maintained.

- Ability to complete all training requirements as designated by Hope Haven, Inc
