The Student Housing & Residential Life Office (SHRLO) under the Dean of Students’ Office (DSTO) is seeking a dynamic, caring, and committed professionals to work with HKUST students within our Residential Halls.

Key Responsibilities & Duty Quarter

The appointee is required to reside in a student hall to carry out the duties as assigned to carry out the duties as assigned and perform on-call duties.

- Program & Community Development: Execute services and initiatives to help students achieve a fulfilling residential life, which includes promoting student activities and organizing residential programs.
- Hall Operations: Manage the day-to-day administration of student hall(s) and assist with student housing arrangements.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Build and maintain close working relationships with Residence Master(s), student groups, individual residents, hall tutors, internal university departments, and external organizations.
- Team Supervision: Supervise a team of frontline staff to ensure smooth daily operations within the residential buildings.
- Flexible & On-Call Support: Act as duty manager for all student halls according to a roster (including evenings, weekends and public holidays), reside in an assigned student hall, and perform on-call duties to support emergency responses or special incidents. Beyond scheduled on-call shifts, the appointee is expected to handle ad-hoc queries and/or provide guidance to residents or hall staff during off-hours if necessary.

(Note: The Head of the Student Housing & Residential Life Office reserves the authority to deploy appointees to specific halls based on operational needs.)

Qualifications & Attributes

- A Bachelor's degree with a t least three years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Prior residential experience in a university student hostel is highly advantageous.
- Preference will be given to candidates with hostel management experience or those who have demonstrated strong leadership as student leaders in extracurricular activities.

- Passionate about working directly with students and diverse stakeholders in a collaborative environment.
- Self-motivated, highly responsible, and capable of working independently under pressure under minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, project management, and supervisory skills.
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), along with strong computer literacy.

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend a written test or any other self-assessments.

(Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
