BRIEF JOB SUMMARY:
Provides technical support to Project Engineering team responsible for the design and development of products in the Viking portfolio. Primary duties include but are not limited to SolidWorks design support, development of test plans and leading their execution, and support of prototype procurement and assembly.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Analyzes and conducts development projects assigned by the supervisor.
- Understands and interprets GD&T and CAD drawings.
- Designs test samples or prototypes using SolidWorks 3D cad.
- Design and conduct engineering studies. Organizes and presents data.
- Assists Project Engineers with prototype procurement.
- Conducts testing to various industry approval standards, international and domestic, from Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Factory Mutual (FM), LPCB, VdS, ISO and others. This includes setting up various fire tests, mechanical tests, collecting data and reporting .
- Determines and develops measurement methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings, models, and diagrams
- Inspects product to establish tolerance requirements.
- Utilize Jira Lab scheduling software and enters detailed information when completing Lab work.
- Effectively and professionally communicate with Viking Engineers and cross-functional team.
- Conducts specialized tests and evaluation involving models, samples and prototypes.
- Responsible for assembly of prototypes and models using electronic drawing files, sketches or verbal instructions.
- Maintains confidentiality on development projects, tests, and products.
- Recommend changes/improvements to procedures, functions, products and tests.
- Adapts test equipment, fixtures, and set-ups to new situations and builds new test equipment as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Exhibits and promotes safe work practices.
- Monitors housekeeping of area and controls sample identification and retention.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates degree in Product Design, currently enrolled in degreed Engineering program, or equivalent.
- Proficient in SolidWorks.
- GD&T working knowledge. Ability to interpret and translate GD&T requirements.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing engineering studies
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, AutoCad, and PowerPoint.

- Day to day lab assignments where lifting up to 40 lbs may be required.
