Purpose
Coordinate import and export shipments for site and monitor related administrative processes from order execution to delivery of goods.
Core Responsibilities
• Perform a range of administrative activities to facilitate the timely and accurate import, export, and shipment of materials, equipment, products, packages, and documents.
• Prepare and maintain shipping records; prepare bills of lading; compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weights, and volumes.
• Prepare customs declarations and other required documents that describe the goods and materials being shipped and comply with all import/export regulations.
• Work in conjunction with customs broker(s) to ensure all required customs clearance procedures and documentation are complied with.
• Process import and/or export documentation within established deadlines.
• Track shipment(s) on a daily basis and address delivery issues with relevant parties (suppliers, customs, transporters).
• Deal with the whole order process from receiving orders to liaising with the shipping lines and warehouse team as well as receipt of delivery.
• Research, identify, and obtain, the permits, licences, and certificates that are required for customs clearance.
• Communicate with external organisations (for example customs authorities or shipping agents) to verify customs requirements and negotiate shipping costs and times.
• Participate in the creation of reports or records concerning potential or verified matters of non- compliance.
• Assist with internal and/or external audits and assessments.
• Advise Shipping staff regarding the interpretation of import/export laws and regulations, applicable policies and procedures and product classification.
• Keep abreast of changes in trade regulations to ensure company compliance.
Academic Background
• Vocational diploma in logistics.
Professional Experience
• 3 to 5 years of experience in logistics, shipping operations or equivalent.
Technical Skills
• Knowledge of hazardous materials and shipping regulations.
• Experience in regulations applicable to import/export.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel), SAP preferred.
