Project Engineer

On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Project Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month hybrid contract based in Bristol .

As a Project Engineer , your main responsibilities will be to:

- Provide technical input into the Engineering Management Plan, including the Work Breakdown Structure, Integrated Operating Model and associated planning products.
- Work with project teams to define business requirements, develop plans and procurement strategies, draft Statements of Work (SoWs), support tender evaluations and contract negotiations, and manage contract approvals to ensure successful project delivery.
- Interact with project delivery, commercial, finance, safety, ILS/TTLS, quality and user representatives to ensure coherent multi-function engineering planning.
- Provide technical input into the supporting engineering products identified in the Engineering Management Plan, applying pragmatic and balanced tailoring where appropriate.
- Support 1st, 2nd and 3rd party assurance activity through the NADG assurance teams, including GEAR and Land & Project engineering assurance routes.
- Provide technical leadership on complex engineering problems, developing innovative and proportionate solutions that improve performance and enhance capability.

PLEASE NOTE: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

Essential:

- Experience working in an engineering role within a defence, maritime, weapons, munitions, safety-critical or complex technical environment.
- Experience supporting engineering management plans, technical artefacts, assurance evidence, requirements compliance or technical governance products.
- Experience managing or supporting technical risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities within a project or programme environment.
- Experience engaging with contractors, suppliers or delivery partners as part of technical review, assurance, evidence development or performance improvement activity.
- Experience supporting engineering contracts, including development of Statements of Work (SoWs), supplier performance management, technical deliverable acceptance, and compliance with contractual and assurance requirements.

Desirable:

- Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives engineering background or equivalent experience in weapons, energetic materials, complex munitions or safety-critical defence systems.
