Primary Objectives of Position:

- Provide mechanical service in a timely and efficient manner under the direction of the Shop Supervisor

- Perform assigned maintenance and repair tasks while developing mechanical knowledge and skills

- Support the cooperatives mission and operational goals by maintaining equipment readiness and reliability

- Follow all cooperative, federal, state, and DOT policies and safety procedures

- Maintain flexibility to assist as needed

- Deliver dependable service while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment

Responsibilities of the Position:

- Perform basic mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and service tasks on fleet vehicles and equipment as assigned

- Assist shop mechanics with diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance activities

- Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner

- Assist with ordering parts and retrieving supplies as directed by the Shop Supervisor

- Maintain accurate records of service time, maintenance performed, and parts used

- Inspect equipment for basic mechanical issues and report concerns to the Shop Supervisor

- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized

- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

- Participate in training to improve mechanical skills and knowledge

- Perform general shop duties, including cleaning, organizing, and assisting other team members as needed

Qualifications

Qualifications:

- Must be 18 years of age or older

- 1–2 years of mechanical experience or technical training in diesel, automotive, or heavy equipment repair preferred

- Basic knowledge of vehicle and equipment maintenance

- Willingness to learn and follow direction from experienced mechanics and supervisors

- Ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently and perform physical job functions

- Ability to work safely in a team environment

- Basic problem-solving and mechanical aptitude

- Good communication and reliability
