About this role

Essential Functions:

- Set up the machine(s) to specifications for determined product run. This includes, but not limited to (depending on which equipment):

setting line speed

- setting fill rates

- Set equipment for line changeovers ensuring proper settings are in place prior to start of run.

- Work with team and maintenance to perform quick changeovers and to limit downtime.

- Responsible for the safe and continuous running of machines in order to fill, and package powders into jugs, bags boxes and packets.

- Participate in Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM), with ability to learn and communicate successfully with the Maintenance Department in order to keep equipment at top levels of performance.

- Maintain scheduled production pace.

- Work with team members in a coordinated and cooperative manner to quickly respond to line bottlenecks.

- Recognize and report equipment issues and work with maintenance crew to troubleshoot and resolve.

- Complete production paperwork including GMP sign offs, downtime and calculation of product, packaging or label losses.

- Work with supervisors to write procedures and to develop other training aids.

- Work with manager, supervisors and production team to attain team and company goals.

- Help production team continuously improve on product quality, cost, delivery and safety.

- Follow employee training including GMP, job skill, safety, SOPs, and improvement oriented training.

- Clean equipment and production area as scheduled and when necessary.

- Be on time to work and maintain good attendance.

- Required to work daily overtime and weekends as business demands necessitate.

- Other duties as assigned.

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour plus $1.00 per hour Shift Differential

Knowledge/Skills:

- Be able to listen, understand and respond well to direction.

- Be able to communicate with other line workers and maintenance staff.

- Be able to read and complete production documentation to insure product integrity and to report downtime and packaging losses.

- Ability to do basic math calculations.

- Comfortable with and be mechanically inclined to be able to properly use small hand tools to changeover and adjust equipment.

- Maintain high level of attention to detail.

- Be self-motivated; be self-driven and motivated to learn as much as possible.

- Work well with others and contribute to a positive environment.

- Ability to sustain a fast work pace based on equipment driven speeds.

- Be able to work a flexible schedule including daily overtime and weekends.

Education/Experience:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- Basic written English skills necessary.

- Basic general mathematic skills necessary.

- 1-2 years manufacturing experience preferred.

- 1-2 years of experience in operation and changeover of packaging equipment preferred.

Reporting Relationships:

The Packaging Machine Operator reports directly to the Packaging Supervisor and works with other Packaging Line Workers and Maintenance staff.
