POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Systems Operator is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and compliance of Solaire's enterprise systems by monitoring data center applications, infrastructure, and network environments. The role involves proactively detecting, troubleshooting, and escalating system alerts to maintain uninterrupted operations.
The position also manages and leads major infrastructure-related incidents, works closely with IT Operations Management, Server Infrastructure Teams, and Application Support Teams, and supports the continuous improvement of operational procedures and policies.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- At least 2 years of experience as a Systems Operator in a multi-system computer environment.
- Experience with UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems .
- Experience in enterprise monitoring tools such as SCOM, PRTG, SolarWinds, Dynatrace , and similar platforms.
- Experience in system monitoring, incident management, and data center operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor enterprise applications, servers, infrastructure, and network systems.
- Detect, troubleshoot, and escalate system alerts and processing errors.
- Resolve hardware and software issues in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Manage and lead major infrastructure incidents.
- Monitor and perform file transfer operations.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, processing exceptions, and service disruptions.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers during equipment or circuit failures.
- Review open tickets and follow up with escalation groups until resolution.
- Prepare operational shift reports and conduct proper handovers between shifts.
- Manage the System Operator ticket queue.
- Generate and manage incident reports related to major infrastructure incidents.
- Act as Assistant Team Leader in the absence of IT Operations Management.
- Maintain operational documentation, logs, and support procedural compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and productivity tools.
- Working knowledge of Linux and Windows operating system commands.
- Understanding of network architecture, IP addressing, virtualization, firewalls, switches, and server technologies.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
