Position Summary
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of Windows and Linux server environments. The role provides technical support for critical infrastructure, ensures high system availability, manages incident resolution, and supports IT projects involving server and platform technologies. The position also serves as an escalation point for complex system issues and outages.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor high-availability server environments.
- Install, configure, and administer Windows and Linux servers.
- Perform capacity planning and performance optimization.
- Monitor system logs and conduct root cause analysis.
- Manage server patching, backups, and recovery strategies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues within SLA targets.
- Support testing environments and production systems.
- Collaborate with Network and Infrastructure teams on security initiatives and system improvements.
- Provide backup support for infrastructure monitoring operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Management, Information Technology, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience managing servers and databases in a 24/7 environment.
- Experience with Windows and Linux server administration.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, WSUS, and related Microsoft technologies.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix platforms such as RHEL, CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Nutanix) is an advantage.
- Knowledge of database platforms such as MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL is a plus.
