About this role
As an Entry Material Handler, you will work with a team to organize materials and move them within the facility. In this role you’ll need to pay attention to detail to ensure the correct part and number of that parts are delivered to the production lines help maintain inventory accuracy. If you are self-driven and looking for a fast pace position that utilizes power industrial equipment, then this is the role for you.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate powered forklift trucks, hoists, handcarts, and other material handling equipment to maintain workflow and the organization of material
- Use production paperwork to locate, deliver and place materials in a warehouse environment
- Maintain equipment in good operating order, follows power industrial equipment guidelines and completes start-of-shift inspection checklist
- Perform low amount of troubleshooting and adjustment to complete assigned tasks
- Understand and participates in continuous improvement activities
- Perform housekeeping and 5S to keep the department clean, safe, and well organized
- Identify problems or potential safety hazards and recommends resolutions
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years related experience as a Material Handler
- Demonstrated skills necessary to perform the duties of the position
- Competent in the operation of a fork truck
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Previous experience in SAP, RF Device, and Warehouse Management preferred
REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Routinely bends and lifts up to 40 pounds individually
- Works in multiple positions during a shift
- Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift
ENVRINOMENTAL EXPOSURES:
- Routinely and regularly works near moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to hot conditions
- Occasionally exposed to non-toxic fumes
- Moderate noise level
- Occasionally exposed to oil, grease, gasoline, dust, metal particles and sharp-edged materials
SAFETY REQUIRMENTS:
- Must be able to wear safety glasses, steel toed shoes and hearing protection

PURPOSE/SCOPE:
The Entry Level Material Handler will function within a team providing support across all functional areas of Material Handling to maintain workflow and organization of material. Applicants must be open to cross training and demonstrate the ability to promote a positive, safe working environment focused on teamwork.
GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES:
- Operate powered forklift trucks, hoists, handcarts, and other material handling equipment to maintain workflow and the organization of material
- Use production paperwork to locate, deliver and place materials in a warehouse environment
- Maintain equipment in good operating order, follows power industrial equipment guidelines and completes start-of-shift inspection checklist
- Demonstrate proficiency to perform within at least 1 area of their function
- Perform low amount of troubleshooting and adjustment to complete assigned tasks
- Understand and participates in continuous improvement activities
- Perform housekeeping and 5S to keep the department clean, safe, and well organized
- Perform basic warehouse transactions
- Identify problems or potential safety hazards and recommends resolutions
- Maintain safe working habits
- Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated skills necessary to perform the duties of the position
- Competent in the operation of a fork truck
- Possess a current license to operate a fork truck
- Previous experience in SAP, RF Device, and Warehouse Management preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions.
- Ability to acquire Tennant Company Power Industrial Truck Certification (PIT).
- Ability to operate a stand up and sit-down forklift, hoists, handcarts and stock chaser.
- Ability to use a warehouse management system and associated tools (WM Warehouse, SAP, RF Device)
- Ability to navigate a computer and WorkForce.
