Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for both routine and emergency medical services in the residential, CBAT, group home, and school programs. New grads welcome to apply!

Essential Functions

- Provide routine medical care to students

- Provide emergency care to students if necessary

- Administer medications to students at various times throughout the shift

- Maintain medical records

- Provide on-going consultation to staff and attend required meetings

- Ensure that first aid supplies are available in all necessary locations

- Track and schedule medical, dental and lab appointments

- Provide in-service training to staff

- Communicate with parents/guardians/collaterals as needed

- Support Nursing internships

- Attend multidisciplinary team meetings as needed

- Serve as on-call nurse for after-hours phone triage, as needed

- Additional duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

- Must be able to successfully pass and apply Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training

- Must be able to successfully complete First Aid/CPR training

- Must be able to successfully complete MAP certification

- Must be familiar and proficient in Electronic Health Record Systems

- Ability to appropriately manage confidential information

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to remain calm and make safe decisions in high-pressure situations

- Capacity to work effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment

- Ability to learn, retain, and apply principles taught in training and supervision

- Ability to stand, walk, and run for extended periods, perform frequent bending, stooping, stretching, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), sitting, stairs, typing, and looking at a computer screen

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer experience is required

- Ability to meet deadlines and follow through with multiple projects simultaneously

- Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team, including during times of high stress

- Ability to transport clients in company vehicles to appointments

- Must be able to follow Walkers policies and procedures, be an ambassador of Walker, and Walkers work culture

Schedule :

- Weeknight evenings (2:00pm-10:00pm), biweekly rotating weekend shifts, with some holidays

- Additional flexibility as needed based on program needs

Qualifications

Education and Certifications

Required:

- Current unencumbered MA nursing license.

- Bachelors degree in nursing or equivalent.

Experience

Preferred:

- 1-2 years of experience working with children with emotionally challenged and/or developmentally delayed children preferred.

Other Requirements:

- Successfully complete all background check suitability requirements

- Must have reliable transportation

- Valid MA drivers license preferred

- Bilingual capabilities are preferred, but not required
