This position is required to work on-site in our Glenview, IL office most days. Everyone receives 3 flexible remote days per month. And, we offer half-day Fridays – every Friday!

Summary of Respon sibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Life Insurance Claims Adjuster IV will be to adjudicate claims and Return of Premium (ROP) claims based on variable contract provisions, benefits, and state guidelines. The person in this position must be able to understand policy contract language, insurance applications, state statutes, interpret medical records, determine appropriate beneficiaries, identify potential fraud, and correctly calculate the benefits due.

- Gather and review required documentation

- Conducts medical history investigations

- Conducting accident or homicide investigations

- Accurate and timely processing of ROP claims

- Establishes eligibility and large dollar benefits

- Accurate and timely processing of claim payments

- Meet department quality and production standards

- Corresponds with beneficiaries, customers, and co-workers clearly, accurately, and professionally

- Customer phone interaction with beneficiaries, family members, and funeral homes is necessary

- Provide assistance with ad hoc projects and operational initiatives as needed

Qualifications

- Prior Life claim adjusting experience is required

- Experience reading and interpreting many different types of policy languages for benefit administration

- Experience in Contestability, or Rescission investigations a plus.

- Basic knowledge of software - Microsoft word, Excel a plus.

- Previous Health/Life insurance Customer Service experience

- Basic ability to read and interpret medical records

- Excellent verbal communication on calls and written communication for request and benefit letters

- Ability to analyze risk and identify potential fraud flags

- Able to work within a production-based environment and meet quantity requirements

- Must have great attention to detail, good judgment, and strong organizational skills

The pay range for this role is $32.50 - $38.00/hour. The pay range provided is not a guarantee of compensation. The range reflects potential pay for the job grade for this role at the time of this posting. Compensation will depend on several factors such as specific competencies, relevant education and experience, qualifications, and industry certifications. Compensation ranges are subject to change and may be higher or lower than the range described above.
