About this role

This position is full-time, Monday- Friday, 8a-5 pm on-site position.

POSITION PURPOSE:
Compiles, verifies, prepares, and files medical records of hospital or other health care facility by performing the following duties:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepares and maintains medical records of all types of patients.

- Reviews and assembles all types of medical records into standard order to scan into our EMR system.

- Resolves record deficiencies within the EMR system. Responds to all requests for medical records according to established policies and procedures in a courteous and timely manner.

- Monitors delinquencies.

- Posts results of testing and procedures to EMR.

- Interacts with the Medical Staff for completion of medical records.

- Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously.

- Knowledge of HIPAA, Release of Protected Health Information to Law Firms, Subpoenas, and Insurance providers.

- Prepares birth certificates in our TER-TxEver Electronic Birth Registry system, obtains parents signatures and releases to state in accordance with policy and procedures.

- Provides adequate office coverage to respond to the needs of the department.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

- Minimum of 3 years' experience with HIPAA and Release of Protected Health Information to include legal requests such as subpoenas and other legal entities.

- Minimum of 2 years experience in a hospital/clinic setting using EMR System preferred.

- RHIT/RHIA Credentials preferred.
