Our Team:

​ ​ Semtech’s Force Haptics Sensing Solutions Team   are   a team of talented and versatile engineers that enable   our customers and partners   to realize   innovative Human Machine Interactions with   industry leading MEMS Force Sensors and   Haptics Systems .   ​

Job Summary :

​ ​ In this role, you will be working closely with our mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to   develop force sensing and   haptics   actuator modules and help bring them to mass production . You will be working closely with different OEMs on next generation products such as Laptop, Mobile phones, Automotive steering wheels & smart surfaces, Fitness Trackers and Industrial display panels, etc.  Your   role may include   mechanical design,   small scale prototyping, DFM, testing and characterization and   root-cause analysis .   We also expect to extend   the job scope to finite element analysis, electromagnetic simulation and optimization, provided long term training is given to the candidate. ​

Responsibilities :

- Develop and execute   electro- mechanical designs from concept to fabrication backed by thorough engineering analysis .

- Assist   in fabrication, assembly, and testing activities from Proof-of-Concepts to mass production projects.

- Collaborate closely with business and engineering teams during the product development cycle to translate customer input into successful,   cutting-edge   products.

- Travel to manufacturing partners (domestic and international) to help bring up production line.

- Travel to customer locations (domestic and international) to provide technical support.

- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and electromagnetic simulation and optimization on module designs   in order to   optimize   performance and the HMI experience. (with training provided at Semtech)

Minimum Qualifications :

- ​ ​5 + years of work experience designing real world products

- ​ Creative problem solving in designing electro-mechanical assemblies from concept to fabrication

- ​ Working knowledge of various fabrication methods such as CNC machining, injection molding, 3D printing, sheet metal stamping, and assembly techniques for consumer and industrial products

- ​ Excellent skill in 3D CAD modeling   mechanical drawing

- ​ Good understanding of materials ,   structural mechanics ,   sensors   and actuators   (esp. electromagnetic actuators)

- ​ Familiarity with DFM (design for manufacturing) and performance and reliability testing

- ​ Consumer electronics experience a plus

- ​ Working knowledge of electronics and circuits

- ​ Hands-on experience with fabrication and assembly tools   (including 3D printing, laser cutting,   etc …)

- ​ Proficiency   with electromagnetic simulation tools such as COMSOL will be a big plus

- ​ Bachelor’s Degree or   Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering   ​

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $ 94K   - $ 1 40 K .  There are several factors taken into consideration in   determining   base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills,   education   and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
