About this role

On behalf of Nuclear Waste Services , we are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner (Inside IR35) for a 9 months contract based remotely with attendance in Cumbria once per month.

Nuclear Waste Services brings together the UK’s leading nuclear waste management capabilities.

We have integrated the expertise of Low Level Waste Repository (LLWR), Radioactive Waste Management (RWM), and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) group’s Integrated Waste Management Programme (IWMP). This creates an organisation focused on the management of the UK’s nuclear waste, safely and securely for generations to come.We are part of the NDA group, which is undertaking the biggest clean-up project in Europe over many decades. Nuclear Waste Services is integral to this environmental clean-up mission, as we work to provide permanent answers to our country’s nuclear waste. The UK has been producing and managing radioactive waste on an industrial scale since the 1940s. However, today’s approach and capabilities for waste management need to adapt to keep pace with NDA’s decommissioning ambitions . This includes its commitment to recycle 50% of waste from decommissioning and reduce secondary wastes by around 70% by 2030.

The role :

We are looking for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to act as a trusted strategic adviser to senior leaders , providing broad HR expertise and supporting organisational performance through people.

The role will lead and support complex organisational change, restructuring and workforce initiatives , while providing high-quality generalist HR advice across employee relations, organisational design, workforce planning, talent and organisational effectiveness.

As a Senior HR Business Partner your main responsibilities will be:

- Partner with Executive Directors and Senior Leadership Teams to develop and deliver strategic people plans aligned to business priorities.
- Provide trusted HR advice, constructive challenge and practical solutions to senior stakeholders.
- Lead and support organisational change, restructuring and redundancy programmes, including consultation, risk management and implementation.
- Provide expert advice on complex employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
- Build effective relationships with Trade Unions and support collective consultation and negotiation processes.
- Lead workforce planning and organisational design activity, identifying future workforce requirements, skills gaps and capability needs.
- Support leadership capability, talent, succession and organisational development initiatives .
- Provide advice across the wider generalist HR remit, including organisational effectiveness, culture, reward and people policy.
- Use HR data, workforce insight and evidence to inform senior-level decision -making and people strategies.
- Lead HR projects and change initiatives , working collaboratively with HR Centres of Expertise and wider business teams.
- Manage competing priorities effectively and deliver at pace, with the ability to hit the ground running in a complex environment.
- Where required, coach and support HR colleagues and contribute to the wider HR strategy.

Essential:

- Significant experience in a senior HR Business Partner, HR Consultant or equivalent generalist HR role.
- Strong strategic HR partnering experience with Directors and Senior Leadership Teams.
- Proven experience supporting organisational change, restructuring and/or redundancy programmes.
- Strong experience managing complex employee relations matters and Trade Union engagement.
- Broad generalist HR knowledge across areas including organisational design, workforce planning, employee relations and organisational effectiveness.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Ability to influence, challenge and advise senior stakeholders with confidence .
- Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to manage complex and sensitive situations.
- Proven ability to work at pace, manage multiple priorities and operate effectively with limited supervision.
- CIPD Level 7 or equivalent senior HR experience.

Desirable:

- Experience working in a complex , highly regulated or unionised environment.
- Experience supporting large-scale organisational transformation or culture change.
- Experience of reward, grading, job evaluation or pay-related activity.
- Experience using people data and insight to inform workforce decisions .
- Experience coaching or developing HR professionals.
- Degree or relevant professional qualification.
