About this role

We are seeking an experienced CMM Operator for a full-time, long-term, direct hire opportunity in Torrance, CA. This is a nuclear energy company that focuses on using small modular reactors to produce industrial-scale clean energy and synthetic fuels.
Location: Torrance, CA
Salary: $ 40/h to $70/h depending on experience
Shift: Mon-Fri from 8 am to 5 pm, weekly overtime is available

Key Responsibilities for CMM Opertaor
- Operate, optimize, and maintain CMM programs using Mitutoyo MCOSMOS software.
- Perform both online and offline programming within MCOSMOS.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T requirements.
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections.
- Generate and analyze inspection reports directly from MCOSMOS outputs.
- Troubleshoot CMM programs, measurement errors, and equipment issues.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve dimensional discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar.
- Maintain calibration records and verify CMM system accuracy.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection efficiency and accuracy.
- Train operators and technicians on MCOSMOS operation and best practices.
Requirements for CMM Operator
- Have expertise in MCOSMOS programming and operation
- Have strong metrology knowledge
- Great at problem-solving and troubleshooting
- Experience in aerospace, medical device, or precision machining industries.
- Familiarity with Mitutoyo CMM hardware and probe systems.
- Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, etc.).
- Knowledge of SPC and quality data analysis.
- Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods while performing hands-on testing, inspection, and lab activities.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime or adjusted hours as business needs require.
- Comfortable using precision measurement tools, inspection equipment, and computer-based quality systems.
