About this role

St. Luke’s is seeking qualified candidates for the System Administrator 3 position on the Imaging Informatics(PACS admin) team.

Summary

Under minimal supervision, the System Administrator 3 installs and maintains enterprise IT systems, environments, and related software to ensure integrity, performance, and reliability. This general classification supports a variety of IHT administration specialties across the Health System, including Communication, Desktop, Network, Storage, Infrastructure, Integration, and Imaging Informatics administration.

Core Responsibilities

- Performs enterprise system administration while ensuring appropriate processes are followed and documentation is completed.
- Evaluates system specifications, input and output processes, operating parameters, and hardware and software compatibility.
- Plans, schedules, tests, and installs system upgrades; troubleshoots network, server, storage, and related infrastructure issues; enables automation where appropriate.
- Ensures compliance with software licensing and maintenance agreements.
- Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
- Ensures long-term system operations and administration requirements are incorporated into organizational information systems planning.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive library of technical and operational support documentation.
- Resolves complex issues and escalates only the most complex matters to higher-level staff.
- Applies comprehensive knowledge of the assigned technical specialty.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and mentoring; may serve as a technical lead.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Imaging Informatics / PACS Specialty Responsibilities

- Administer, support, and optimize enterprise imaging platforms, including PACS, VNA, diagnostic viewers, voice recognition, image exchange, and related imaging applications.
- Design, maintain, and improve imaging workflows, interoperability, and integrations across radiology, enterprise imaging, Epic, and other clinical systems.
- Lead imaging system upgrades, migrations, modernization initiatives, testing, validation, and production deployments.

- Provide advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance monitoring, and business continuity support to ensure reliable, high-availability imaging services.
- Develop and maintain imaging standards, documentation, operational procedures, cybersecurity controls, regulatory compliance, and disaster recovery plans.
- Serve as a technical leader and trusted partner to clinicians, radiologists, operational leaders, vendors, and technology teams while mentoring team members and participating in 24×7 on-call support.

Preferred Qualifications

- Strong understanding of healthcare imaging operations, clinical workflows, and diagnostic reading environments.
- Experience administering PACS, VNA, enterprise viewers, radiology information systems, voice recognition solutions, image exchange platforms, or related imaging technologies.
- Knowledge of DICOM, HL7, IHE profiles, modality worklists, and healthcare interoperability concepts.
- Experience integrating imaging platforms with Epic or another electronic health record.
- Experience with server administration, virtualization, storage, databases, networking, cloud-hosted environments, monitoring, cybersecurity controls, and disaster recovery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects, coordinate vendors, communicate during critical incidents, and work effectively with multidisciplinary clinical and technical teams.
- Experience supporting radiologists, imaging departments, and large-scale or multi-site healthcare environments.

Preferred Certifications

- Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP).
- Epic Radiant, Cupid, or related enterprise imaging certification.
