Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Job Description
This role supports the electrical hardware design, integration, and programming of control systems for liquid cooling and related equipment used in data center applications. You will work under the guidance of senior engineering staff to execute well-defined tasks across controls hardware, controllers, displays, software, testing, and documentation. The position focuses on new product development, contributing to electrical design documentation, component selection, BOM creation, prototype build support, and verification activities.
Responsibilities
- Support electrical design for power distribution, control panels, instrumentation and sensors, and VFD/pump interfaces within shippable product units.
- Create and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts/GA drawings, and cable schedules using AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
- Build and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), including part documentation, alternates, and revision updates.
- Support prototype and pilot builds by verifying wiring, assisting with troubleshooting wiring issues, and documenting corrections.
- Contribute to test documentation, including FAT/SAT checklists, test procedures, and inputs to operation and maintenance (O&M) documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, thermal, and controls teams to ensure cohesive system design and integration.
- Maintain clear, detailed, and accurate engineering documentation throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Follow applicable electrical design standards and safe work practices while working on control panel design and layout.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, co-op roles, or project experience.
- Foundational electrical engineering knowledge, including electrical design and schematic interpretation.
- Exposure to 2D CAD tools, with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical preferred.
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring practices and instrumentation signals.
- Basic understanding of safe electrical work practices.
- Ability to create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) with accurate part documentation and revisions.
- Strong written communication skills for producing clear engineering and test documentation.
- Ability to support control panel design and layout activities.
- Interest in working with control systems hardware, PLCs, and related controls components.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with control panels, including layout, wiring, and documentation.
- Experience with instrumentation and sensors used in industrial or process applications.
- Exposure to VFDs (variable frequency drives) and pump systems.
- Any exposure to liquid cooling systems or data center equipment.
- Familiarity with UL and NEC considerations for electrical design and control panels.
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD tools for electrical schematics and panel layouts.
- Exposure to PLC-based controls and hardware integration.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment with mechanical, thermal, and controls teams.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to documentation, testing, and revision control.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role in a laid-back environment that supports significant growth driven by data center projects. The facility uses modern tools and technologies for electrical design, including 2D CAD and AutoCAD Electrical, and supports the development and testing of liquid cooling equipment and control panels. The workplace offers a casual dress code and a relaxed, collaborative culture. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
