Mechanical Designer / Drafter
Responsibilities
- Support spacecraft mechanical design activities, including 3D modeling and drafting in SolidWorks (CREO experience considered).
- Translate engineering and stakeholder requirements into compliant mechanical designs and detailed engineering drawings.
- Contribute to the development of mechanical systems, subsystems, and components.
- Produce drawings in accordance with GD&T – ASME Y14 standards and applicable NASA/DOD drafting requirements.
- Present design concepts and deliverables during formal design reviews; prepare associated documentation.
- Maintain CAD models, drawings, and configuration documentation within the CAD Data Management System.
- Participate in project meetings, collaborate with engineering teams, and complete assigned tasks on schedule.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required; AS degree plus 5+ years of relevant experience preferred .
- Proficiency in GD&T / ASME Y14.5 .
- Experience working with mechanical designs and technical systems.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or CREO CAD tools.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NASA or spaceflight hardware.
- 2+ years of hands-on SolidWorks experience.
- Experience using CAD Data Management Systems .
- Familiarity with NASA fabrication tolerances , materials, and manufacturing practices.
