The job:

As our Senior Design Engineer , you will design custom electrical control panels and systems for water and wastewater applications and help guide projects from initial design through manufacturing and delivery. You will review project plans, specifications, proposals, and scopes of work to develop solutions that meet customer and project requirements.

Using AutoCAD Electrical, you will create schematics and control panel drawings, select appropriate components, and prepare engineering documentation including Bills of Material, equipment submittals, sequences of operation, production documentation, and O&M manuals. You will work closely with Project Management, Sales, consulting engineers, manufacturing, programming, and Supply Chain to resolve technical questions, support approvals, and keep projects aligned with schedule and budget.

You will also help ensure designs meet applicable UL, NEC, and NFPA requirements, contribute to engineering standards and process improvements, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced Design Engineers.

The skills, education, and experience you need:

To succeed in this role, you must have experience with:

- Designing custom electrical control panels and systems for water/wastewater and industrial applications.

- Reviewing and interpreting technical project plans, specifications, proposals, scopes of work, and other engineering documentation.

- Developing electrical schematics, control panel drawings, and system designs using AutoCAD Electrical.

- Applying UL 508A/698A, NEC, and NFPA requirements to industrial control panel design.

- Selecting and specifying industrial electrical, automation, and control system components.

- Developing engineering documentation, including Bills of Material, equipment submittals, sequences of operation, technical specifications, production documentation, and O&M manuals.

- Coordinating technical requirements and resolving design questions with Project Managers, Sales, consulting engineers, manufacturing, programming, Supply Chain, customers, and other stakeholders.

- Supporting control system projects through design, engineering approvals, manufacturing, programming, start-up, and final delivery.

- Managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

- Monitoring project schedules and budgets and identifying potential issues or necessary corrective actions.

- Communicating technical information clearly and professionally while working as part of a cross-functional team.

- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.

To be successful in this role, you should have a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, along with 7–10 years of progressive experience in electrical controls, industrial automation, or control panel and system design.
