Description

Are you a current student looking for a Safety internship in 2027? If you have a passion for workplace safety and want to learn more about safety in agricultural operations, you’ll enjoy this internship. The Safety Intern will gain hands-on experience in the 10-12 week internship supporting safety programs across feed mill and swine farm operations and will report to the Safety Team.

A successful Safety Intern possesses a good understanding of workplace safety practices and procedures. They are enthusiastic, with excellent communication skills and work ethic, and have a strong desire to learn more about safety in agricultural operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

- Conduct safety risk inspections and audits at the feed mill and swine farm locations
- Assist with safety training, onboarding, and safety meetings
- Help develop and update safety procedures, checklists, and training materials
- Support safety projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills and Requirements:

- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders/stairs, and wear required PPE
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors and in agricultural/manufacturing environments
- Strong computer skills needed
- Comfortable working with employees and supervisors in production, farm, mill, maintenance, and transportation
- Interested in workplace safety, injury prevention, and employee training
- Work in a dusty/strong smell environment

Ideal Candidate:

- Current college student pursuing Safety, Occupational Health, Agriculture, Environmental Health, or a related field
- Strong communication skills
- Willingness to work in both office and agricultural production environments, and an interest in safety are preferred

Employees in this role are required to complete and maintain the following safety trainings, as applicable:

- General New Hire Safety Training
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & Requirements
