SUMMARY:

Quality Technician III plays a critical role in ensuring product integrity and supplier excellence through advanced metrology and technical analysis. This advanced position focuses on utilizing Keyence VL-8100 3D scanning technology to support reverse engineering, part-to-CAD comparisons, and new product qualification processes. You will serve as a technical anchor for the quality team, collaborating closely with engineering and automotive suppliers while supporting root-cause investigations into warranty issues.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Scan physical components to document existing designs and new product introductions
- Compare first production samples against approved sample drawings
- Perform scan-to-CAD comparisons to detect variances between manufactured parts and approved designs
- Execute precise dimensional inspections using traditional tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges as required to monitor product quality

- Measure and evaluate sample parts to qualify new products for production
- Assess initial component submissions to validate supplier manufacturing capabilities
- Document and present clear first-article inspection (FAI) reports to cross-functional teams

- Examine failed field components to identify specific material or dimensional defects
- Participate in root cause analysis as needed for warranty improvement programs
- Assist factory quality leadership in implementing permanent fixes to eliminate recurrence
- Work collaboratively on cross functional projects across all divisions

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

- Hands-on proficiency operating Keyence VL-8100 3D scanners or similar technology and related inspection software
- Strong capability reading GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols and engineering layouts
- Moderate computer skills in excel, word and ERP systems
- Ability to read technical drawings and use basic measurement tools as needed
- Ability to safely lift up to 50lbs on a frequent basis (gears, chains, turbochargers)
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for root cause analysis and customer support

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

- Experience with new product development approval processes
- Familiarity with automotive aftermarket warranty processing and retail operations
- Prior experience inspecting and qualifying automotive parts or assemblies.

EDUCATION:

·          High School diploma or GED or

·          Associate degree in technical, mechanical, or engineering discipline preferred

·          ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or equivalent metrology certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

·          Office, factory, and warehouse environment

EXPERIENCE :

- Experience: 3+ years of experience in manufacturing quality or metrology technician role
