About the Opportunity
Seeking a motivated Junior Industrial Hygienist to join our Environmental Services team in New York City. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience supporting environmental health and safety projects throughout the NYC metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have experience conducting asbestos and lead inspections, environmental sampling, and field monitoring activities while working alongside senior industrial hygiene professionals on a variety of commercial, institutional, transportation, and infrastructure projects.
## Responsibilities
Perform asbestos inspections, surveys, and bulk sampling in accordance with NYC and NYS regulations. Conduct lead-based paint inspections, risk assessments, and clearance monitoring. Perform indoor air quality (IAQ), mold, noise, and other environmental investigations. Collect environmental samples and maintain proper chain-of-custody documentation. Conduct site visits and field observations for hazardous building materials assessments. Prepare technical reports, field notes, and inspection documentation. Communicate findings with project managers, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NYC DEP, and NYSDOL regulations. Support construction monitoring and environmental remediation projects. Travel to project sites throughout NYC and the 5 buroughs.
## Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. 1-2 years of industrial hygiene, environmental consulting, or hazardous materials experience. New York State Asbestos Inspector Certification required. New York State Asbestos Project Monitor Certification preferred. EPA Lead Inspector and/or Risk Assessor Certification preferred. Mold Inspector Certification is a plus. OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
## Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments. Experience using environmental monitoring and sampling equipment.

## Work Environment
This is a field-focused position supporting projects throughout New York City and the five boroughs, including NYC agency projects. The Industrial Hygienist will work closely with senior environmental professionals and a team of Environmental Scientists and Inspectors. The position offers exposure to a diverse range of environmental and industrial hygiene projects, with opportunities to expand technical expertise and grow within the organization. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
