About this role
This position is an in-person position located at 104 Southeastern Parkway, Franklin, TN 37064. This position is not eligible for work from home unless otherwise noted or for emergency closures. The standard hours for this position will fall between Monday-Saturday 8am-6pm. Closing shifts may be later as needed.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Sales Associate is responsible for completing tasks related to the sale of donated goods, including operating the cash register, organizing and replenishing merchandise, assisting customers, and cleaning common areas for any retail area.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
POS System and Cash Handling
- Become proficient with the cash register, including returns, transaction types, and basic troubleshooting.
- Follow opening and closing cash-handling procedures for both sides of the thrift stores
- Open the store(s) and operate the cash register during store hours.
- Process vouchers according to established procedures.
- Balance the cash register and complete end-of-day closing duties, including required reports.
Customer Service and Ministry Representation
- Treat all customers as an extension of the ministry by providing excellent customer service and representing GraceWorks well.
- Assist Neighbors and customers purchasing items with vouchers, including helping them select items that apply to their vouchers.
- Share the mission of GraceWorks with customers as appropriate.
- Resolve customer concerns with flexibility, kindness, and sound judgment.
Store Support and General Responsibilities
- Dust, straighten, and stock merchandise as needed.
- Change prices only with supervisor approval.
- Clean dressing rooms and common areas as assigned.
- Complete assigned kitchen and work-area clean-up tasks.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required
Previous retail experience preferred
OTHER SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a diverse range of individuals.
- Problem-solving skills, good judgment, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Computer literacy, including working knowledge of cash register operations and money handling.
- Strong organizational, planning, oral, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is in a retail store and warehouse setting and involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring standard safety precautions. May encounter hot working conditions, based on the season.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours.
