Organization Overview: Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) is a well-established Manhattan community-based organization that supports services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Program Description: Beacon Community Centers are in public schools throughout New York City and serve youth from kindergarten through age 21 and adults ages 22 and older, including Older Adults. Beacons operate year-round on non-school hours, weekdays, evenings, weekends and in the summer as a resource to the entire community by offering integrated programming tailored to local needs. During the summer, Beacons collaborate with the New York City Public Schools for the Summer Rising initiative.
Position Summary: Program Aides work with Outreach Worker, Assistant Director, and Program Director to ensure the office is managed smoothly. Includes data entry, record-keeping, correspondence, escorting, monitoring and supporting Youth Groups.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, September 1, 2026 through June 18, 2027, Monday-Friday: 1:00pm to 9:00pm; School holidays: 8:00am-6:00pm; Saturday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Hourly Rate: $19.00/hr
Qualifications
Role, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
- Office Tasks (Manage attendance records, Program Registration; Data Entry, Typing, copying; Manage Program/Office Supplies; Maintaining Participant files; Document Collection)
- Maintenance Tasks (Light, Sweeping, mopping, dusting, general cleaning)
- Support all areas of the After School Program
- Escort participants to activities off site.
- Enforce program rules
- Know and enforce ALL emergency procedures and follow all safety guidelines associated with all program areas
- Foster a learning environment that stimulates childrens creative growth and development
- Attend staff training, weekly meetings and supervision meetings
- Demonstrate professionalism & leadership
- Other duties as required and assigned by Program Director and AVP.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to work between the hours of 8am to 9pm, Monday-Friday; 9am to 5pm, Saturday; available for training sessions
- Must have ability to work collaboratively
- Must have a sense of humor and a passion for youth development
- Have energy, motivation and skills needed to work independently
- Comfortable engaging youth
- Experience or interest in Education/Social Work a plus
- Must be able to pass background checks including Fingerprint Screening.
- CPR/First Aid Certification a plus
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Familiarity with Social Services setting
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as a team member
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office a plus
