As an HR & Payroll Senior Consultant , you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of French payroll clients, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services while maintaining compliance with French labor and social security regulations.
Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, you will support them on payroll operations, HR administration, employee lifecycle management, and legislative changes impacting their workforce. You will also collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and contribute to process improvement initiatives within the payroll practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of French clients across various industries.
- Ensure payroll calculations are accurate, compliant, and delivered within agreed timelines.
- Review and validate payroll data, variable compensation elements, absences, overtime, bonuses, and benefits.
- Manage employee lifecycle administration, including onboarding, contractual amendments, and offboarding activities.
- Prepare and submit all mandatory social declarations and reports (DSN, URSSAF, pension schemes, health insurance, provident funds, occupational medicine, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with French labor law, collective bargaining agreements, and social security regulations.
- Handle complex payroll situations, including terminations, settlements, maternity leave, sick leave, expatriate scenarios, and disciplinary procedures.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients regarding payroll and HR-related matters.
- Provide guidance and expertise on French payroll legislation and processes.
- Support payroll audits, internal reviews, and compliance checks.
- Participate in process optimization, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
- Mentor and support junior payroll team members when required.
- Maintain high standards of service delivery and client satisfaction.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll (preferably in French Payroll), ideally within a payroll provider, consulting environment, accounting firm, or HR outsourcing company.
- Knowledge of French payroll regulations, labor law, social contributions, and statutory reporting requirements is a big plus.
- Proven experience managing payroll from hire to retire for multiple clients or entities.
- Experience working with payroll software such as Silae, ADP, Sage, Cegid, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Ability to manage a client portfolio autonomously and build trusted relationships with stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Fluency in French and professional proficiency in English.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and international environment.
