- JOB SUMMARY Hospice Registered Nurses provide professional nursing care for terminally ill patients to maintain their comfort and quality of life. A hospice nurse serves as a case manager and advocate for their patients and primary caregivers. This includes: keen observation skills; high ethical standards; critical thinking skills; compassion; attention to detail; organizational skills; calm under pressure; patience; and compassionate communication skills.
- JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing (Diploma; AD; BSN; MSN)
- Minimum Work Experience 1 year previous experience
- Required Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse
- Current CPR
- Current Drivers License
- Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities Ability to carry out obligations and duties of position
- Accountable for the regulatory requirements; function and duties of the Hospice Registered Nurse
- Deals effectively with community/consumers
- Demonstrated advocate of quality and cost effective care
- Understand the physical; psychosocial and spiritual concerns/problems of terminally ill patients and families
- Must be knowledgeable of quality assessment and performance improvement activities
- Compose applicable policies and procedures
- Audit; monitor; and retrieve data
- Coordinate meetings
- Proven written and editing skills
- Strong computer skills
- Requires ability to handle confidential information
- Excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills
- Demonstrates interpersonal skills
