Finance Director (Commercial & Industrial Solar Distribution)

A fast-growing energy infrastructure distribution business operating across multiple African markets, structured under an international holding company with local operating subsidiaries. Having scaled rapidly, the Group is forecasting substantial further growth over the next 18–24 months, supported by expanding distribution agreements and new market channels.

To match this growth, the Group is searching for a Finance Director who is ready to step into a Group Chief Financial Officer role reporting directly to the CEO with accountability to the Board.

Key Responsibilities;

- Consolidated financial control and reporting across the holding company and several operating subsidiaries, including a manufacturing operation and an entity currently being acquired
- Group-level working capital strategy across an import-distribution model, plus capital allocation decisions across trading, manufacturing and other entities
- Covenant compliance and reporting under the Group's debt funding arrangements, and acting as primary contact for lenders and noteholders
- FX exposure management and hedging strategy across foreign-currency intercompany invoicing
- Transfer pricing strategy across a cross-border group structure, working alongside external tax advisers
- Leading and developing the finance function, with the Head of Financial Operations and HR and a part-time outsourced CFO reporting into you
- Board and CEO reporting on financial performance, covenant compliance and strategic matters

Requirements

- CA(SA) or equivalent
- 10–15 years post-qualification experience, including 5+ years in a Senior Finance Leadership position (C-suite level)
- A track record operating at executive/board level, including direct engagement with boards, lenders or noteholders
- Experience in import-distribution, trading or industrial businesses (strongly preferred)
- Prior experience scaling a finance function through rapid growth — not just steady-state management
- Cross-border, multi-currency group reporting experience
- Practical exposure to debt funding, covenant compliance and lender reporting
- Comfort managing a lean team across multiple jurisdictions and time zones, with high personal integrity and the judgement to operate autonomously

Location: Cape Town, South Africa (base), with periodic international travel required from time to time.
