On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Senior Test Engineer for a 12 month (Inside IR35) contract based Hybrid in Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Blackpool, Sheffield or Birmingham.

As a Senior Test Engineer , your main responsibilities will be:

PLEASE NOTE: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

Essential:

- Lead the testing and quality assurance of data solutions within the Health Data Analytical Platform, ensuring all deliverables meet the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and performance.
- Design, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans for ETL/ELT pipelines, batch processes, scheduled data loads, and complex data transformation workflows.
- Perform detailed data validation, source-to-target reconciliation, schema verification, and data quality testing to ensure confidence in business-critical management information and analytics products.
- Utilise advanced SQL skills to conduct data integrity checks, reconciliation activities, root cause analysis , and defect investigation across large-scale data platforms.
- Support the successful delivery of key Health Transformation Programme initiatives , including PIP Reboot, PIP Scale Up, and HAS Expansion, by providing expert testing and validation throughout the development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams working within Azure Synapse, Databricks, and enterprise cloud data warehousing environments to ensure robust, fully tested, and production-ready solutions.

Desirable:

- Previous experience working within a government department or public sector organisation
