Job Summary
The Robotic Weld Engineering Specialist is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing robotic welding systems in a metal fabrication and welding environment. This role ensures that robotic welding processes are efficient, precise, and meet quality standards. This position will have experience in robotic welding systems, programming, and process improvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Expertise:
Performs offline programming for robotic weld equipment
Utilizes programming, tooling, and engineering software
Recommends preventative maintenance schedules for robotic weld equipment
Assists in fixture design and troubleshoots existing robotic weld fixture issues
Team & People Management:
Coordinates outside training for robotic weld operators & programmers
Mentors robotic weld programmers
Works with internal stakeholders on new product design, implementation, and launch
Works with engineering team to resolve blueprint/drawing issues
Provides programming support & guidance to robotic weld department
Continuous Improvement
Troubleshoots technical problems with robotic weld equipment.
Selects new robotic weld equipment to maximize capacity of department assets.
Analyzes Shoplogix data to identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities.
Assists in robotic weld employee development programs
Works with internal stakeholders to convert manual weld jobs to robotic weld cells

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: HS Diploma or Equivalent
Experience and/or Training:
Minimum of 5 years robotic welding experience
Minimum of 3 years robotic weld fixture design experience
Minimum of 3 years robotic weld programming experience
Proficiency in GMAW welding operations
Proficiency in robotic weld programming software
Adept in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Associates Degree in robotic welding, programming, engineering, tooling or related education.
Experience and/or Training:
Prior engineering experience relative to robotic welding
Prior continuous improvement experience
Prior project management experience
Prior training & development experience relative to robotic welding
Prior experience with selection & implementation of new robotic weld equipment
Physical and Mental Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls.
The employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must be able to lift and or carry up to 10 lbs occasionally.
Travel: This position requires periodic travel between local offices, vendors, and customers.

Working Environment
Work is performed in a general office environment with limited noise exposure and usually moderate. Noise may be loud when frequenting the production floor. Additionally, there will be occasional exposure to dust, metal debris, changes in ambient temperature, and requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
