About the Client

PrideStaff is seeking a Controller on behalf of a growing real estate development, construction, and property management company in West Palm Beach, Florida. Our client handles the full life cycle of high-end residential and commercial assets—from ground-up construction through long-term property management.

Position Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Controller to manage day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, job costing, and property accounting across active development builds and managed properties. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this role manages work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, AIA billing, CAM reconciliations, and monthly financial closes.

Key Responsibilities

Construction Accounting

Manage job costing, WIP reporting, and budget-to-actual variance analysis for active residential and commercial projects.

Process and track AIA billing, schedules of values, draw requests, subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and retainage.

Property Management Accounting

Oversee property-level financial operations, including tenant billing, rent roll reconciliations, and CAM (Common Area Maintenance) end-of-year reconciliations.

Track reserve accounts, security deposits, and lease administration data.

Financial Management & Reporting

Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes; produce accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements.

Manage corporate cash flow, bank reconciliations, lender reporting, and local/state tax compliance (including FL sales tax on commercial leases).

Act as the primary liaison for CPA firms, auditors, and insurance providers.

Qualifications

Experience: 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with direct exposure to both construction (WIP/AIA) and property management (CAM/Leases) accounting.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Software Skills: Proficiency in industry-specific software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, Sage CRE, QuickBooks, or similar).

Work Style: Hands-on mindset—comfortable managing high-level reporting as well as direct data entry and reconciliations.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute daily to West Palm Beach, FL.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $115,000 / year (dependent on experience)

Health & Wellness: $3,600 annual health insurance reimbursement ($300/month)

Paid Time Off (PTO):

Eligible for prorated PTO after 3 months of continuous employment

10 full days of PTO after completing 1 full year of service
