Position Summary

PrideStaff is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer on behalf of our client based in Florham Park, NJ. This role is responsible for the installation, repair, retrofitting, deinstallation, and user training for high-precision thermal processing equipment (ovens). The ideal candidate provides high-level technical support, troubleshoots complex system issues, performs root-cause diagnostics, and implements tailored solutions to ensure maximum equipment uptime and operational reliability for customers.

Key Responsibilities

Support machinery product lines for domestic US, Canada, and Mexico customer sites.

Rapidly diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex electrical, electronic, mechanical, and system-level issues on-site.

Perform new installations, de-installations, and field retrofits/upgrades.

Provide technical training and application support to end-users at customer facilities.

Conduct root cause failure analysis (7-step, 8D, etc.) on sub-systems, circuits, and mechanical components.

Produce precise technical documentation, including test reports, work instructions, BOMs, ECOs, and CARs.

Collaborate with internal engineering teams to provide design-for-serviceability feedback for new product development.

Assist with local and field logistics, including RMAs, inventory checks, failure analyses, and shipping support.

Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree or higher in Engineering, Technology, or Applied Sciences (BS preferred).

Experience: 5+ years of experience as an Engineering Technician or Field Service Engineer.

Technical Background: 5+ years hands-on experience troubleshooting complex electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. Experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) or semiconductor equipment is highly preferred.

Methodologies: Familiarity with structured troubleshooting and problem-solving approaches (e.g., 8D or 7-step).

Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and standard Windows applications.

Clearance/Citizenship: US Citizenship is required due to customer facility access requirements, along with the ability to pass a federal background check.

Travel: Ability to travel up to 80% of the time (domestic and occasional international) and work weekends when critical service needs arise.

Languages: Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to transport tool kits weighing up to 75 lbs.

Physical capability to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance.

Comfort working in tight spaces, climbing over equipment, and performing physical maneuvers (stretching, bending, kneeling).

Capacity to sit for 2–3 hours at a time during travel or administrative tasks.

Ability to obtain full-face respirator certification and perform service work while wearing required PPE (respirator, hazmat suit, gloves, etc.).

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 Per Year
