About this role
The Procurement & Logistics Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of bulk materials, including resin, to and from designated locations. This role includes responsibilities in shipping and receiving, inventory management, quality lab, and compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transportation and Equipment Operation
- Operate company truck and trailer safely and in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Conduct and document DOT-required pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks, trailers and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of company vehicles and trailers
- Coordinate daily pickup and delivery schedules with the Production Scheduler.
- Loading and unloading of resin material from rail car to silos
- Ability to communicate delivery schedules to 3 rd party customers
- Identify and resolve work-related issues as they arise.
- Be available to work overtime and weekends as required.
Shipping and Receiving
- Unload and check in incoming goods or materials.
- Enter receiving paperwork into the system and cross-reference with received goods.
- Load materials onto box trailers, flatbeds, or hot shot trucks.
- Verify that shipping paperwork matches materials and destination.
- Ensure loads are properly balanced and do not exceed weight limits.
- Pull tags and generate Bill of Lading information for outgoing shipments.
- Confirm all loads are properly secured using the appropriate number of restraints.
Inventory & Reporting
- Responsible for daily silo and material usage reports.
- Perform weekly resin inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Communicate inventory levels and material needs with supervisors, foreman and the production scheduler.
- Collect resin samples and perform melt test utilizing the Extrusion Plastometer, tensile testing and peak testing to obtain tensile strengths.
- Perform ESCR testing
Other Responsibilities
- Safe operation of a forklift and other heavy equipment
- Proper use of PPE
- Must stay compliant with DOT and company Safety training
Qualifications
Experience
- Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) required.
- Minimum of 1 year of CDL-A driving experience.
- Working knowledge of load securement practices.
- Experience with box vans, flatbeds, and bulk trailers is a plus.
- Must possess a valid DOT medical card or able to obtain one.
- Forklift certified or ability to become forklift certified
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to read and understand basic instructions, and correspondences.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
