About this role

The Nurse Manager is a Registered Nurse responsible for supervisory work involving maintaining high standards of professional nursing services in the management of a clinical unit, special unit, or ward in our Extended Care Facility. The position involves general supervision with latitude for instructing, planning, and making assignments to subordinates. The incumbent performs related work as required.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assess patient nursing care needs and prepare and carry out a nursing care plan.

- Collaborate with medical staff in the care and treatment of patients.

- Provide accurately descriptive records of the medical treatment and nursing care of patients.

- Check physicians orders, medication cards, and charts to ensure prompt and accurate execution of orders.

- Instruct and assist nursing staff and auxiliary nursing personnel on nursing problems, unit management, and related activities.

- Coordinate the services rendered by other departments in the interest of effective management and patient welfare.

- Supervise the activities of professional subordinates in the bedside care of patients and the administration of medications and treatments on a unit.

- Orient new personnel and oversee participation in related staff development and in-service training programs.

- Perform a variety of personnel and unit management activities.

- Assist in the formulation and execution of policies and procedures.

- Act as Supervising Nurse in their absence or as directed.

- Provide care and/or treatment to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients as assigned.

Requirements:

- Assist in the orientation of new staff.

- Perform similar or related duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

Education :

- Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year College with an Associate Degree in Nursing.

Experience :

- Two years of supervisory/management experience.

Licenses and Certifications :

- NYS RN License.
