ABOUT THE ROLE
Supervise the safe operation of a ready mix concrete plant, including oversight of concrete mixer drivers and daily plant maintenance . Ensure continuous delivery of high-quality products, timely customer deliveries, optimal resource utilization, and exceptional customer satisfaction while meeting company KPIs .
WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH
- Supervise daily concrete batching operations and drivers to meet targeted KPIs in safety, environment, productivity, and quality .
- Drive daily plant operations to achieve safety performance goals, aiming for zero incidents .
- Efficiently manage driver, loader operator, and fleet scheduling to maximize turns per day and minimize idle time .
- Coordinate routine and preventative maintenance on trucks, plant equipment, and loaders to maximize up-time .
- Manage raw material inventories (aggregate, cement, admixtures, ice) and complete accurate monthly physical counts and bi-annual zero-inventory checks .
- Process COD sales, collect payments prior to concrete delivery, and exhaust all opportunities to sell Value-Added Products (VAP) .
- Maintain high standards for plant image, housekeeping, property condition, and proper returned-concrete management .
- Monitor operational metrics to maintain voided concrete under 1%, limiting top-ups, deadheads, and call-in no-loads .
- Maintain positive employee relations, foster safe work practices, and ensure adherence to collective agreements and company policies .
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours .
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Education: Civil Engineering degree or Technologist diploma, or equivalent professional experience .
- Field of Study Preferred: Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field .
- Required Work Experience: 3–5 years of supervisory experience in concrete manufacturing or related operations .
- Required Training/Certifications: Thorough understanding of the concrete manufacturing process . Sound knowledge of union collective agreements preferred .
- Required Technical Skills: Proficiency in batching and inventory control platforms (e.g., Command, SAP), general computer literacy, operational analytics/KPI tracking software .
- Travel Requirements: Up to 5% travel outside the local market area .
Additional Requirements:
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to handle financial tracking and daily operational decision-making .
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators . Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests .
