About this role

Purpose/Description

Registered Nurses 1 give professional nursing care and treatment in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. Registered Nurses evaluate health needs of juveniles and refer, as indicated by policy and procedure, to the appropriate health provider, demonstrate knowledge in advanced first aid and emergency care, and have knowledge in all policies and procedures pertaining to Medical and Psychiatric treatment of juveniles detained in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility. Registered Nurses monitor and maintain the medical and mental health treatment of juveniles, maintain supplies and equipment and ensure the juveniles are in a clean and safe environment and perform other related duties as assigned. General assignments are received from Charge Nurse or Nursing Administrator. Registered Nurses may supervise the work of Licensed Practical Nurses or other auxiliary nursing service personnel.

- Educational Requirements A graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Possess a current Registered Nurse license to practice in the State of Michigan.
- BLS/CPR Certification

- Experience Requirements One year of full-time paid experience as a registered nurse within the past five (5) years in the following areas of medical/surgical, corrections, or behavioral health (preferred).

- Special Conditions Candidates must receive MDHHS clearance and Child Protective Services clearance to work in a childcaring institution. Candidates that have lived outside of the State of Michigan must provide clearance from that state.
- Candidate must be able to work full time, 3:00pm-11:00pm shift, as well as work every other weekend. This is a 24/7 facility, so overtime may be required.
