Job Description
Position Summary: The Childcare Provider is responsible for providing safe, attentive, and nurturing care to infants and children enrolled in the daycare program. This position maintains required records, attendance logs, and completes assigned assessments for infants and children. Some evening hours may be required. Santa Maria Hostel is a non-smoking workplace.

Regular Schedule:
- Monday: 5:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
- Tuesday: 5:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
- Thursday: 5:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures adequate supplies of baby food, infant supplies, and other necessary childcare items are available during each shift.
- Maintains open and consistent communication with parents regarding their childs care, activities, and needs.
- Adheres to all applicable confidentiality requirements and regulations.
- Completes eight (8) hours of annual training related to child development and its impact on families, child health and safety, child supervision, universal precautions, and recognizing signs of child abuse.
- Completes the Child Service Weekly Report daily, documenting:
- Attendance
- Participation in activities
- Socialization
- Progress in activities
- Childs behavior and interactions with parent
- Parents behavior and interactions with child upon arrival
- Completes the Small Talk sheet daily to document the childs activities and care, including snacks/meals, diaper changes, activities, behavior, and other relevant information. Provides the completed communication to the parent at pickup.
- Completes required annual training in Blue Basin on AIDS, HIV, STDs, TB, Hepatitis, and universal precautions.
- Follows oral and written instructions from the manager, as well as written instructions provided by parents regarding their childs care, as applicable.
- Ensures children who become ill are separated from other children and appropriately supervised until the parent can pick them up.
- Ensures children remain in designated childcare areas and separate from areas designated for adult clients.
- Maintains childcare areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition in accordance with Santa Maria Hostel guidelines.
- Completes and maintains required accident and incident reports.
Education/Experience
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) certificate required. One to three months of related childcare experience and/or training is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess basic knowledge and skills related to infant and child care.
