Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and register all incoming claims on-line using the Group Administration claim system. Request additional information as needed on incomplete claims forms. Forward claims to Life Claims Specialist for processing that are over dollar limit and/or assigned by benefit type.
- Research and correct missing or erroneous information reported on 1099's and B-Notices and the Paid and Pending reports. Update systems with the correct information.
- Assist Life Claims Specialist by filing source documents.
- Handle telephone inquiries, internal and external, for status questions and for questions regarding claims handled by this position. Telephone calls, internal and/or external, may be recorded and retained electronically, specific to the department’s scope of services.
- Review and log all incoming mail. Prepare and maintain all file correspondence.
- Process Group Life claims - Life, Accidental Death, Dismemberment, Waivers and Survivor Income Claims using automated claims system.
- Bring claims to satisfactory conclusion to include verifying eligibility using various source documents reviewing policy provisions, initiating written and/or telephone inquiries to client. Final determination of releasing claims benefit payment or denial letter is entered into the system.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Eighteen months’ administrative experience, preferably in an insurance environment.
- Familiarity with contract language and interpretation preferred.
- Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
- Must successfully demonstrate the ability to meet or exceed productivity and error ratio standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Salary Range:$51,476.00 - $64,000 (depending on relevant experience, skills, and credentials).
