About this role

SUMMARY: The Safety Coordinator assists the Safety Manager in tasks and responsibilities related to health and safety at the mill, including promoting the safety culture, preventing workplace accidents, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Educate supervisors, managers, and other staff members on safety standards, conducting training sessions to ensure a thorough understanding of protocols and procedures.

- Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and federal and state regulations, conducting regular audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.

- Verify employees adhere to established safety protocols and procedures, taking corrective action to address non-compliance issues.

- Review existing safety procedures and recommend enhancements to optimize safety standards and practices.

- Act as back-up trainer for Safety Manager on OSHA- and mill-required training

- Collect and enter Safety Observation Cards

- Enter safety work orders based on findings and employee concerns/feedback

- Plan and execute projects to enhance workplace safety

- Ensure the availability and maintenance of safety equipment and supplies

- Actively participate in Safety Committee Meetings

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of OSHA guidelines and other relevant safety regulations

- Familiarity with tools, machinery, and equipment commonly used in a manufacturing setting

- Attention to detail

- Problem-solving skills

- Strong communication skills

Pay Transparency: The starting hourly rate for this opportunity ranges from $30.00 -$35.00 per hour. Other rewards may include quarterly bonus eligibility, which is based on company and individual performance.
