Job Summary
The Electrical Maintenance & Automation Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, installing, maintaining, testing, and optimizing electrical and automation systems to ensure manufacturing equipment availability, reliability, and operational efficiency. This role supports preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities while working with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES integration, vision systems, and advanced automation technologies. The position contributes to improving equipment performance, reducing downtime, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and maintaining compliance with Cummins' Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), Quality, and operational standards. The role may also provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.

Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, install, test, and maintain electrical systems, industrial automation equipment, and manufacturing machinery to maximize equipment uptime and reliability.
- Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment and electrical control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve faults related to PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, drives, sensors, industrial controls, and electrical components.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Siemens TIA Portal applications, PLC programs, HMIs, vision systems, and automation equipment.
- Support MES integration and smart manufacturing technologies to improve operational efficiency and equipment performance.
- Perform machine programming modifications, electrical system upgrades, and automation improvements to enhance productivity and reliability.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, machine drawings, and technical documentation to execute maintenance activities effectively.
- Ensure electrical systems comply with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and manufacturing requirements.
- Conduct equipment downtime analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective actions to eliminate recurring failures.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules, equipment history, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules to minimize equipment downtime and production interruptions.
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, maintenance, and support teams to improve equipment reliability, productivity, and manufacturing performance.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment by adhering to Cummins Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), and Quality standards.
- Coach and provide technical guidance to technicians and team members, supporting skill development and knowledge sharing.
Experience
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, industrial automation, or manufacturing maintenance within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal , PLC programming, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial automation.
- Experience with vision systems , MES integration, and factory automation technologies.
- Experience supporting high-volume assembly line maintenance and improving equipment reliability and uptime.
- Proven experience in electrical troubleshooting, machine programming, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Working knowledge of TPM, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and manufacturing process optimization is preferred.
- Experience mentoring technicians or supporting team capability development is an added advantage.
