About this role

We are seeking an experienced, principled, and decisive Security Manager to lead our security operations. This role is critical in ensuring the safety, well-being, and peace of mind of our residents, staff, and property. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, technical aptitude, and sound judgment, and is ready to take ownership of both people and systems in a high-stakes environment.

Full Time Position

Starting Salary: $52,000/year

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

- Lead, mentor, train and hold accountable security supervisors and officers; set the tone for professionalism, integrity, and service

- Build schedules, oversee timekeeping, approve payroll, and manage labor costs

- Address performance issues promptly and fairly; coach for growth

- Serve as the primary point of escalation during incidents or emergencies

Operations & Administration

- Review, approve, and reconcile accounts payable invoices related to security services and service calls

- Manage contracts and vendor relationships for security systems and services

- Develop and enforce security policies, SOPs, and post orders

- Conduct audits, drills, and incident reviews

- Produce clear incident reports, metrics, and executive summaries, as requested

- Serve as on-scene leader until relieved by emergency responders

Problem Solving & Decision-Making

- Independently assess situations, identify root causes, and implement practical solutions

- Make sound judgment calls under pressure and adjust plans as conditions change

- Anticipate risks and proactively improve security processes

Security Systems & Technology

- Understand and troubleshoot security system equipment, including:

- Access control systems (key fobs, smart keys, smart locks)

- Alarm systems and monitoring platforms

- Camera systems (CCTV / IP cameras)

- Coordinate installations, repairs, and upgrades; verify work quality

- Maintain system documentation and access permissions

- Provide basic IT troubleshooting support to the security team (network connectivity, device issues, user access)

- Work effectively with internal IT or external vendors on escalated technical issues

Critical Risk & Emergency Management

- Lead preparedness and response for:

Elopement prevention and rapid response

- Fire safety and evacuation procedures

- Severe weather / hurricanes

- Active shooter / violent incidents

- Trespass and unauthorized access

- Conduct drills, post-incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Proven experience in security leadership or management

- Demonstrated ability to solve problems independently and lead through ambiguity

- Strong understanding of security systems, access control, alarms, and monitoring

- Working knowledge of payroll, labor management, and accounts payable

- Basic IT troubleshooting skills (hardware, software, access systems)

- Excellent organizational, documentation, and follow-through skills

- Required security license(s) and ability to maintain them
