The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND is seeking applications for Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication, with an anticipated start date of January 2027 or August 2027. Responsibilities Include:
- Teach undergraduate courses in the General Communication, Strategic Communication, and/or Media Production Concentration for the Communication Major.
- Depending on expertise, teach courses in Communication Theory, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Strategic Communication, Business Communication, Photography, Audio Production, Podcasting, Broadcasting, Communication Law & Ethics, or Digital Marketing.
- Depending on expertise, teach COM 110, Oral Communication for the university Core Curriculum and various courses across the Communication major curriculum within the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Advise and mentor Communication students.
- Support and advance the Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine mission of the University of Mary in teaching, advising, research, and service.
Qualifications and Requirements Include:
- Required: Master’s degree in Communication or related field
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
- Preferred: Ph.D. in Communication or related field
- Ability to teach across multiple Communication areas including Communication Theory, Visual Communication, Graphic Design, Strategic Communication, Business Communication, Photography, Audio Production, Podcasting, Broadcasting, Communication Law & Ethics, or Digital Marketing.
- Curriculum design experience
- Active program of research or scholarly activity in communication discipline or a related field
- Industry experience in communication or similar fields
- Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
- Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae , the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities
- Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the School of Arts & Sciences and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ
