About this role

The Charter Township of Chesterfield Building & Code Enforcement Department is hiring for a Code Enforcement Officer.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under authority of the Director of Building & Code Enforcement, this position will be responsible for the enforcement of Township and State codes and ordinances, and performs various tasks, including, but not limited to: inspects and monitors buildings and home construction sites ; issuance of citations and letters to homeowners or developers; provides information on Township regulations to homeowners and developers; preserves the quality of business and neighborhoods; performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience):

REQUIRED :

Prior law enforcement training or equivalent experience.

Previous Building Department, Planning & Zoning, or Code Enforcement experience in the Public Sector (i.e., county or municipality).

High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Test.

Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license and an operable insured automobile for authorized travel.

PREFERRED :

Minimum of five (5) years code enforcement and/or law enforcement experience.

Experience with BS&A software.

Ability to speak, read and understand a language other than English.

This position will work week-days, with occasional Saturdays. Normal business hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
