Position Summary:

This position designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, material handling, and testing of metallic and composite materials.

Essential Functions:

- Designs and manufactures tooling fixtures and shop aids to increase efficiency and standardization in production labor

- Develops procedures for use of tooling fixtures and shop aids

- Develops procedures and operational sequences for build of complicated product

- Reviews and/or develops operational sequence documentation for production technicians to follow

- Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout

- Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions

- May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan

- Investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality

- Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques

- Provides recommendations and assistance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques

- Provides assistance and support to production regarding engineering requirements to best utilize manufacturing techniques to obtain conforming product in the most practical and efficient manner.

- Support material and mechanical testing in the laboratory as needed to qualify, verify, or validate metallic and composite product.

- Manufacturing liaison support

- Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations

- Creates, designs and manipulates solid models, assemblies, layouts and detail drawings

- Knowledge of quality and certification requirements in regulated manufacturing industries as required by the business (e.g. AS 9100, FAA, ISO 9001, Nadcap)

Qualifications

Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask

- Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail

- Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required

- Excellent communication both written and verbal

- Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative

- Proficient in CAD both 2D and 3D

- Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- Experience in SolidWorks and Enterprise PDM preferred

Education, Certifications and Experience:

- BS degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Manufacturing Engineering

- 0 - 4 years experience

- MS degree no experience required

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
