Account Manager, Western Region
Full-Time, Permanent
This is a remote position located in any Western U.S. state where Graymont operates
Graymont is seeking a highly motivated Account Manager to support the continued growth and commercial success of its Western Region business. Reporting to the Director, Sales & Distribution Western Region, this role is responsible for driving commercial excellence across a portfolio of strategic customers and growth opportunities.
The ideal candidate will bring experience in mining, construction materials, industrial products, or related markets, along with a proven ability to develop and execute customer strategies, manage complex commercial negotiations, respond to competitive proposals and RFPs, and deliver profitable growth. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating both strategically and tactically, building long-term customer relationships while ensuring disciplined execution of pricing, contracts, forecasting, and account plans.
The role requires an individual who can work independently, influence cross-functional teams, and effectively collaborate with operations, logistics, customer service, finance, and legal teams to achieve business objectives.
Responsibilities
· Drive commercial excellence across assigned accounts, across a diverse array of applications, through disciplined execution of pricing, forecasting, account planning, and contract management.
· Develop and execute strategic account plans that identify growth opportunities, strengthen customer relationships, and align Graymont resources to support long-term business objectives.
· Lead customer negotiations, including pricing discussions, commercial agreements, contract renewals, and competitive bid responses.
· Effectively manage multiple deliverables.
· Manage and coordinate responses to RFPs, RFQs, and other commercial proposals by working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver compelling and competitive solutions.
· Build and maintain relationships with key customer stakeholders across procurement, operations, engineering, technical, and senior leadership functions.
· Develop a strong understanding of customer operations, market drivers, competitive threats, and emerging industry trends within the mining, construction, industrial, and energy sectors.
· Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customer Service, Finance, Marketing, and Legal teams to develop commercial strategies that maximize value while ensuring reliable customer service.
· Execute pricing strategies and margin management initiatives consistent with Graymont's commercial objectives and market positioning.
· Maintain an active pipeline of growth opportunities and provide accurate forecasts, market intelligence, and business updates.
· Support development of annual budgets, operating plans, market assessments, and strategic growth initiatives.
· Utilize CRM and commercial management tools to maintain accurate account information, opportunity tracking, and customer activity records.
· Support credit and collections activities as required to ensure effective management of customer accounts.
Qualifications
· Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Mining, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
· Professional Experience : Minimum five (5) years of experience in industrial, mining, construction materials, aggregates, chemicals, or related B2B commercial roles. Demonstrated success in strategic account management, business development, pricing, contract negotiation, and commercial strategy execution.
· Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of commercial negotiations, contract structures, pricing models, and market-based selling.
· Experience developing long-term customer strategies and commercial growth plans.
· Demonstrated ability to evaluate business opportunities and balance commercial risk and reward.
· Proposal and Contract Management: Experience preparing and managing responses to RFPs, RFQs, and competitive bid opportunities.
· Ability to work effectively with legal and cross-functional teams to negotiate and implement commercial agreements.
· Technology Requirements: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Experience with CRM systems is considered an asset.
· Travel: Ability to travel throughout Western Canada and the Western United States (approximately 30-50%).
