Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Temporary Full-Time Kitchen Manager to join our team at the Porter County Jail in Valparaiso, Indiana .
This position is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in their work, has strong leadership skills, and is comfortable working in a structured correctional environment.

What You'll Do
As a Kitchen Manager, you will help oversee daily kitchen operations while working directly with inmates assigned to the food service area. Responsibilities include:
- Leading, directing, and assisting inmates within the kitchen
- Leading and instructing kitchen staff and inmates during meal preparation
- Assisting with food preparation, baking, cooking, and clean-up
- Following company recipes and established food service procedures
- Maintaining a safe, organized, and productive kitchen environment
- Working effectively within a structured correctional setting
- Performing physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds
What We're Looking For
Successful candidates should have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- The ability to work well in a structured correctional environment
- The ability to read and follow company recipes
- The ability to lead, instruct, and assist with kitchen and meal preparation duties
- The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- A dependable, positive, and professional attitude
Schedule & Requirements
- Temporary Full-Time position
- Must be flexible to work weekends and holidays
- Must be flexible to work varying days and hours
- Typical shift times fall between 8:30 AM and 6:30 PM
- Must receive clearance approval to enter the facility
Previous food service or kitchen experience is a plus - but don't let that stop you from applying. We can train the right person!
